The Spanish Language program is offered to all students from Grade Pre-K4 through Grade 8. The program provides grade-appropriate language development, with increased concentration in Grades 7 and 8 in preparation for high school. The program emphasizes communication skills, including speaking, reading and writing in Spanish, and cultural understanding. Students will learn to use conversational vocabulary for purposes of socializing, providing and acquiring information, expressing feelings and opinions, and having others follow a course of action. They will comprehend main ideas and some details of written materials, such as news articles, advertisements, posters, and letters, and will write compositions that convey information about everyday activities. In addition, they will acquire an understanding of traditions, folklore, and common social dynamics in the Spanish culture.
