Congratulations to Mrs. Biktjorn and Mrs. Moore's 6th grade classes! These amazing Resurrection students spent weeks pooling their own money to fund a huge donation of food for the POTS Thanksgiving Meal that the Resurrection Parish hosts annually in the Bronx.
Mrs. Moore and Mrs. Biktjorn used their own time to buy the food that was added to the parish-wide collection.
The 6th graders were out in the sharp cold helping to load the truck with their own donations, as well as many extras through the overall school donations, on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. News Channel 12 came and interviewed many students, and, of course, our very own Ms. Fonte.
This collective effort is so inspiring. Mr. Forcelli said it best himself in an email he sent to 6th Grade parents:
The generosity of your children, the 6th grade families, and our wonderful leaders in Mrs. Biktjorn and Mrs. Moore is indescribable. To see how much food was collected by the 6th grade was the sweetest sight to see going into this holiday season...
Between their generosity and their dealings with the media today, your children truly showed the Res spirit and the maturity that we do not often see in middle schoolers. I could not be more proud to be their middle school leader or to be associated with the Res family!
