The Church of the Resurrection and Resurrection School announces a major redesign and upgrade of their entire nine-acre campus. Breaking ground at the end of June 2018, the Resurrection campus, which includes the Church, the Resurrection Two Year Old Pre-School Program, plus the Grammar School and Middle School, will see an overhaul with new playgrounds, parking lots and traffic flow patterns. In addition, the campus will be more beautified and unified with new landscaping and safety walkways.
The two-year Resurrection ‘Renew & Rebuild’ campaign will be executed in two phases in coordination with Sullivan Architecture, IQ Landscape Architecture and Landscape Structures as project partners. Two new playgrounds for children of all ages and abilities will be relocated and installed for the Resurrection School students and parishioners. In addition, a new enclosed playground adjacent to the Resurrection Chapel’s Two Year Old Pre-School Program will replace the existing playground area.
“The new playground and campus improvements taking place this summer and next summer will greatly improve the student and family experience on our Resurrection campus,” said Rev. Monsignor Donald M. Dwyer. “We are proud to have raised the funds to make these campus-wide improvements possible and we are grateful to the hundreds of families who donated to our Capital Campaign last year to make this upgrade possible for our special community.”
The main playground will be used by the Resurrection Grammar School and Middle School students as well as children who attend the Parish PREP program. It will be a 5,000 square foot space with state state-of of-the theart play equipment. There will be 17 distinct pieces of play equipment, which are will be linked together to create one larger experience. The space will include a large central shade structure that will be incorporated in with the play equipment. The central shade structure will be in Resurrection blue, and will serve to give the playground a sense of place on the campus. The play surface, in two color tones, is a rubberized product that will provide enhanced safety and durability. The space will include playful benches related in design, and will tie in with the play equipment. The playground phase of the project is scheduled to be completed in time for the start of school in September.
The Resurrection Two-Year-Old Pre-School Program playground will be 1,000 square feet with equipment designed specifically for younger children and will promote active and safe play outside.
esurrection’s new Principal, Ms. Gina Marie Fonte, said, “We recognize that the playgrounds provide a place for students to explore and develop skills like making friends and having fun. The playground will be a safe and modern facility that our school families will appreciate and enjoy for years to come.”
